The Many Rivers Group (MRG) of the Sierra Club Oregon Chapter represents almost 3,000 Sierra Club members in Lane, Douglas and Coos Counties. The MRG is active and visible locally, with tables and booths at local events, hikes and other outings, road cleanup and trail maintenance projects, and monthly meetings. Please join us!

LAND BOARD TO CONSIDER MID-COLUMBIA RECOVERY PLAN, ELLIOTT STATE FOREST MANAGEMENT AT FEB. 9 PUBLIC MEETING Increased logging on State Forests threatens fish & wildlife, clean water, and opportunities for tourism and recreation. The Legislature previously made logging a part of, but not the primary purpose of, our State forests, and now that Measures 66/67 have passed the pressure to fund schools should be alleviated. With the stock piles of lumber and low prices, we don't need to log these precious natural resources. Any changes to the management of our forests should:

Last Tuesday Sierra Club Working Group & Beer Social The January Working Group & Social took place at Eugene City Brewery in the Tiki Room with lots of new faces. There was much interest in having more outings. Special thanks to the Eugene Weekly for announcing our event in their "Activist Alerts."
The 2010 Legislative Session is under way. There are several bills under consideration which may be of interest to Sierra Club members.
